Contactless payments extended to Stevenage and Stansted
From December, rail passengers will be able to use contactless payments to travel to Stevenage, Hitchin, Letchworth and Baldock from Hertford North.

Travellers will also be able to use contactless to travel to Stansted Airport.
Oyster and contactless payments were introduced at Hertford North in 2019, four years after Hertford East joined the scheme. However, passengers could only use the system when travelling south.
Rail Minister, Lord Peter Hendy, said: "The ticketing system is far too complicated, so we’re taking the stress out of navigating the labyrinth of fares and replacing it with new technology so passengers can simply tap-in tap-out, while being guaranteed the best fare available at the time on the day."
Passengers will be able to use contactless payments in the enlarged zone from 14th December, although Oyster cards are not included in the expansion.
