Thousands attended the event as residents paid their respects and commemorated those who served and those who continue to serve.

The commemorations, organised by Hertford Town Council in partnership with the Hertford branch of the Royal British Legion, started with a parade from St Andrew Street, walking through the town to the War Memorial on Parliament Square.

The Mayor of Hertford, Councillor Steven Watson, was led by the Sergeants at Mace and joined by Hertford Town Councillors, the Town Clerk, the Mayor's Cadets, the Mayor's Scouts, dignitaries, Servicemen and local uniformed organisations who marched together, in procession, to the War Memorial.

At the War Memorial, a poignant service conducted by the Mayor's Chaplain, Rev. Alan Stewart, included the laying of wreaths. This was followed by the Salute - by Deputy Lieutenant Fergus McMullen; after which the procession made its way to All Saints Church, which held a special service - open to all, led by Rev. Simon Cutmore.

The Mayor of Hertford commented: "The people of Hertford came together, as they do every year, to remember and commemorate those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice. We also think of all those serving in our Armed Forces today, wherever they are based, and

express our deep gratitude for their remarkable service and steadfast dedication. It was such an honour to lead the procession, at this vital annual event - that Hertford does so very well, with all generations coming together, to pay their respects, as one. Sincere thanks to my

Sergeants at Mace, my Cadets and my Scouts; as well as to everyone who played a part in the organisation of Hertford's Remembrance commemorations and to all who were able to be there."
