County Council To Relocate
Hertfordshire County Council are planning to relocate their administrative operations in a move that could see over 1000 staff transferred to St.Albans.

Council employees based at County Hall are currently being consulted on the plans that would see Hertford lose its status of County Town.
The Council are also in the early stages of discussions that could see them partner with a developer to convert the listed building to residential use.
A spokesperson for the council said the building, constructed in the 30s, did not meet modern standards and maintenance costs had contributed to the decision to relocate.
The move is also expected to have a positive affect on congestion in the town, with many council employees driving to and from work.
Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies, together with the Registry Office would be retained on the site adjacent to Richard Hale School.
