Man Assaulted in St.Andrew Street
Police are investigating an assault outside The Old Cross Tavern in St Andrew Street on Friday.

A man in his 40s had been walking on the pavement with his partner at 9.50pm when they became engaged in a verbal altercation with a man on a pushbike. The cyclist has then punched the victim in the back of the head, causing him to fall to the ground, before leaving the scene. The victim received medical treatment for minor injuries.
The suspect is described as a tall, white man of medium build, aged in his early 20s with dark cropped hair. He spoke with a local accent.
PC Thomas Carter, who is investigating, said: "This assault happened in a busy area of the town on a Friday night, when there would have been lots of people out celebrating the arrival of the weekend. Therefore I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and witnessed what happened to please come forward and speak to me. Equally, I would be keen to hear from anyone who was driving along St Andrew Street around 9.50pm last night and who has a dash cam fitted to their vehicle."
Any witnesses or anyone with information should contact PC Carter on thomas.carter@herts.pnn.police.uk or call the non-emergency number 101, and ask for Herts Police.
