Bollywoods Face Prosecution

Friday 7 May 2010

Indian restuarant Bollywoods are facing prosecution for neglect of the Grade II listed building they occupy.

The District Council meet on Thursday 13th May to discuss the condition of the building, with officers recommending prosecution for neglect and "alteration of a listed building in a manner adversely affecting its character".

Officers are also recommending that enforcement action be taken under Section 48 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 to preserve the building.

The Development Control Committee is also being advised that the council has powers to issue compulsary purchase orders if planning notices are ignored.

In December last year Bollywoods were fined £40,000 for flouting Health & Safety laws. There is already a prohibition order in place for the upper floors of the building.
