Charges Follow Drug Raids
Five people have been charged with drug offences after yesterday's dawn raids on the the Sele Farm Estate.
Those charged are Carl Pickett of Lawrence Close, Christopher Mead of Tudor Way, Carly Edens of Hamsworth Court, Vashti Barbrook of Edmunds Road and Leon Jackson from New Southgate.
A further 3 men and a woman from Hertford have been bailed until 2nd December.
Officers from Hertford Neighbourhood Team spent the morning after the raids in the community talking to residents about the work they are doing to tackle drugs. They also went into schools to speak to local children about drugs and what to do if they are concerned or suspect drug dealing in the area.
Chief Inspector for East Herts, Jon Speed, said: “We understand that residents may have been disturbed by this morning’s activity and may well feel concerned. I would like to reassure them that only a very small percentage of residents are committing criminal behaviour. Sele Farm is a low crime area and we are constantly working to ensure it stays that way.
“I’d also like to thank East Herts Council, Fire Service, Trading Standards, Riversmead Housing, the Drug and Alcohol Action Team and the Mayor of Hertford for their support today.”
