Video Tells Yarn Poppy Story

Friday 9 November 2018

The Secret Society of Hertford Crafters have published a video about the yarn poppy installation at Hertford Castle.

The video features interviews with some of the organisers and volunteers and details the background of the project from inception to completion, along with footage of the ceremonies at Hertford Castle to commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War.

More than 170 miles of wool was used to create the installation.

As well as cascade of poppies, there is also a wreath made up of 352 poppies - one for every Hertford serviceman who died in the conflict.

The project has featured in the national press, including the BBC and the Daily Mail newspaper.

The cascade of poppies can be viewed at Hertord Castle until Monday 12th November.
